Apesar da Eleição do Rei e da Rainha das Vindimas 2020 poder decorrer cumprindo todas as normas das autoridades de saúde pública, a comissão organizadora considerou que não estavam reunidas as condições para que o evento pudesse cumprir o seu objetivo.

Este é, segundo a autarquia, “privilegiar a participação, o convívio, a partilha de conhecimento entre os jovens de todas as freguesias”. O presidente da autarquia, Pedro Ribeiro, agradece “o esforço que todas as freguesias fizeram para que os seus jovens pudessem participar nesta Eleição”.

Para o autarca, a Eleição do Rei e da Rainha das Vindimas do Cartaxo “é um evento determinante na afirmação dos valores da nossa cultura e das tradições do nosso território junto dos mais jovens”, garantindo que “apesar da incerteza da evolução desta pandemia, tudo faremos para que a Eleição do Rei e da Rainha das Vindimas volte a realizar-se no concelho, já em 2021″.

A decisão de cancelar a edição deste ano deu-se na sequência de uma reunião realizada na passada terça-feira com a comissão organizadora do certame.

Este encontro deu-se no Centro Cultural do Cartaxo, com o intuito de “fazer o balanço quer do trabalho já efetuado pela Câmara Municipal, quer da informação enviada pelas Juntas de Freguesia”.
